Also....the .1 can't just be pingable....it needs to be the next hop from these arcs. Meaning.....whatever router the .1 is on needs to be plugged into the same hub/switch as the arc's you are trying to renumber. I've been trying to change the defaultroute of 4 hiperARCs. I don't want to add another one with a different metric so I tried first delete the already set defaultroute and then add another one.
This is more or less what I've (fake IPs because of the example):
Internet Router 1: 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.240 Internet Router 2: 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.240 HARC 1 : 192.168.1.3/255.255.255.240 HARC 1 : 192.168.1.4/255.255.255.240 HARC 1 : 192.168.1.5/255.255.255.240 HARC 1 : 192.168.1.12/255.255.255.240
all HARCs have 192.168.1.2 as a default gateway. I'm running RIP V2 in all of them. They only publish the dial-up routes but they don't receive any default route via RIP.
As you can see, all IP addresses of the four routers belong to the same network 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.240
When I try in any HARC to add de default route (after the 192.168.1.2 had been deleted) I receive the next message:
ERROR - Specified gateway is not on a directly connected network.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for the help.
