Hello, this is my first post to the list. Next week, we'll be moving from individual PRI's to a channelized DS3. During the move, we are considering enabling NFAS (we have 14 PRI's). I've browsed the archives for this list, and the consensus seems to be that NFAS isn't worth the trouble. I'd like to hear pros and cons concerning NFAS. Our telco is SPRINT, and the folks in the translations department have always done a good job in the past. However, we can't afford any mess-ups with this conversion. They are itching to build the new circuits, and I have to let them know soon whether we want NFAS. Also, any tips (TC configuration, etc.) would be welcome. Thanks, Rick Nash Valkyrie Internet Service, ltd.
We only have a couple of PRIs, some are NFAS, some are not. It's less than a 5% cost savings. It's can be more confusing for the phone company to setup. And it results in less fault tolerance in the system. And, if something goes wrong, it's one more thing to trackdown and it makes troubleshooting a bit harder. We've never had any trouble with it, but unless we had ALOT of PRIs or our PRIs got alot more expensive, I doubt we'll use it in the future.
