After trying with an External USR Sportster, an Intel Winmodem, Agere chipset, and a connexant chipset, all failing, I again reloaded windows and installed a generic driver assuming that if CreateNOID was going to recognize any modem it had to do that one - but no luck - wouldn't work. I assumed it was my configuration, but it works perfectly on win98 and higher, just fails with a "modem not found" message on Windows 95 (OSR2). I'm going to download your installer and try it - THANKS! Generic 28800... why the generic windows driver? -- Paul Farber Farber Technology farber@admin.f-tech.net Ph 570-628-5303 Fax 570-628-5545 On Thu, 10 Apr 2003, Joel - Fox Computers wrote:
Hmmm.. It's good to hear that it's working for someone.
Every test I've done has been on a clean load of Windows. The Windows 95 not finding the modem problem occurs on a brand new windows 95 install with a generic "standard 28800 modem" installed on COM1 (and various others).
Didn't have any other apps installed at all to turn off.
Since you have a working installer, would you mind sending me a copy of it so I can run it on any of my machines and see the results? Would very much appreciate if possible.
Also - maybe you have an older version of CreateNOID? If possible, could you also send the createnoid exe just so I can compare?
Thanks,
Joel

I have used the software for about 3 years and its worked fine for me under 95/98/Me/2000/XP.
Modem issues I've had in the past were generally early PnP winmodems or PCMCIA/Laptop modems. I just mailed out 2000+ disks (New dial up numbers) with the new version and had very little in the way of support calls.
