how do you run 1500 ports off a company thats only been allocated a /22? Aside from that, I wouldn't generalize number of ports on this list, because you may bet that wench "mary" trying to hold you to 1500 ports, when you really only have a few hundred. I can hear it now "Don't tell me you only have 250 ports, I saw you post on usr-tc!" eeek! Brian On Wed, 14 Nov 2001, Lance Eves wrote:
Sorry, I've only been on the list for about 3-4 years and I haven't heard from a support rep that entire time unless I called one. Are the support reps supposed to call and bother you when you don't need help? I have had to call support 3 times during that time period. Two of those was for a piece of equipment that went bad and needed to be sent back for repair. The other was for a configuration question at 10PM one evening. I was never promised toys or free stuff and only have about 1500 ports, but have been very pleased with the equipment. I guess it all depends on where you're coming from. For me if the equipment works, that's all I need. I do all my own support and support for some others and the primary reason for me to carry a support contract is the software upgrades. Just my opinion.

Are you new to the list? 3com helpful? Since when?
I haven't heard from a support rep in years... literally... ever since they promised us a bunch of things such as Palm Pilots and some free upgrades... which we NEVER received.
We have over 3000 ports in Hiper 3com equipment... you would think they would care a little more.

We haven't upgraded yet, but we did pay for the contract and always have. The few times that I've needed support, the techs that I talked to were very helpful and when equipment was bad it was taken care of. Right now we have a software only contract, because that is all we need at the moment. I upgraded to the TCS 4.3 level and it has improved a few things. When we've given the V.92 code a chance to make sure that it works, we'll upgrade.

Has anyone actually upgraded to V.92 is a better question...
If so did you actually PAY to do so? If so how much?
We have stopped buying 3com until they come to their senses...
