the nac pn# should be one of the 2 listed if its a true E1 NAC. (1) 69-002072-00 carries a daughtercard that give the 30 channel function Its this daughtercard that you can install on older T1 DSP card. Has to have daughtercard connection on DSP NAC board. Then send E1 firmware upload.

What cards do you have?

NAC PN# for E1 should be...
other than that you can... take an T1/PRI card, install daughtercard (E1) from ..2072-00 NAC and flash T1 DSP for E1 and that works.

I got a good deal on some refurbished Hiper DSP cards. The issue is - the guy says they work on T1. Unfortunately E1 is my only choice. What gives me some hope is that on the back of the chassis one can see the sign "Hiper DSP T1/E1 NIC". Also, some voice gateways (like Quintum) can switch the port from T1 to E1 (and vice versa) only by changing a simple settings inside them.
So, my main question is - can I upload an E1 firmware (R2 CAS) into the Hiper DSP card with the idea to switch it from T1 to E1 ?
It depends entirely on the generation of the card. The most common answer is no, you can't. I went through the same thing before. Bascially, contact Commworks and give them the part number of your NAC cards and ask if they are able to be firmware flashed with E1 code. Only newer NACs supported both E1 and T1 firmware.
