Well, to avoid all this he could have simply replied to the person selling rather than posting his remarks to the list. I mean, I can understand his being upset, the used market is moving much faster than the new market so software sales are probably better than hardware sales, but no need to take it out on folks making a living on used gear. One thing I've been wondering lately is when the old netserver/quad/nmc code will be available without a contract. I believe the old 8/16 netserver software is now available without a contract. It seems like a waste to shell out a grand or so to get software that will never be upgraded/fixed. Any news on that front? Thanks, C

This will probably start a nice little flame war :)
But I like how the only time anyone from 3Com pipes up is when there is vague impression that someone "might" be giving their buggy code away!!

I "can" upgrade to the latest code if a customer wants ME to do it. I will buy a service contract to do this. I have not had to upgrade any of the boxes for customers because they said they already had service contracts and or they would do it themselves. When I say I can upgrade to latest code, it means I know how it is done. Several people on the list have told me how to do it.

Shannan,
How are you upgrading to the latest code? Are you selling support contracts with each chassis? Is this legal code?
