Update - thanks again - works like a charm.
Now to figure out how to 'break' into the box. I turned jumper 5 on to reset to factory defaults, but it's still wanting a 'NETServer Console Login:'. Is there a factory default for that?
Chris

This cable config works - I determined it myself using an actual 3Com Cable, and I've had dozens of these made and they work with everything.

Yep - tried the cables we made on 3 cards all with identical results, so apparently we've not got something right. And I know for a fact that at least one of the chassis and 2 of the cards were all working fine when the power was turned off on them...

Chris,
Verify that cable with several different NIC/NAK sets. I found that my custom cable works fine on 9 out of 10 cards and that even though the NICs are not bad, they do not function properly with a console connection. I have no "official" cables to test the unresponsive NICs.
Just a thought.

We have inherited a couple of TotalControl RAS chassis, but not the console cables. We have tried to make some using a number of 'specs' we found on the net for them - RJ45 to DB9 null modem cables - and while I get a display, I have no keyboard control - so apparently they are incorrect 'specs'.
Can anyone provide working specs for the required console cable? Or know of somewhere we can go to purchase one?
