Randy, If this is the first PRI in an NFAS group, then the NFAS Span D-Channel Type MUST be set to dChannelPrimary. I believe the NFAS Logical Group number must match between you and the telco. Seth P.S., Unless you're going to have alot of PRI's (e.g., more than 10) I'm not sure NFAS is worth the trouble. You can't call directly to cards that are d channel backup or d channel none, which makes testing harder. Also, I've heard that as the number of PRI, NFAS goes up, so does the liklihood of telco issues. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Randy Cosby" <dcosby@infowest.com> To: <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 9:31 AM Subject: [USR-TC] ISDN PRI Qwest 5ESS Good morning! Qwest started offering ISDN in our area recently. We have ordered one PRI to test the service out. I'm having a heck of a time getting it up and running, however. I get the DSP ALM light on, and depending on my NFAS settings (see below) I may get the LPBK/D-ALM light on. Qwest is using a Lucent 5E switch here. I'm using a single-span hiper DSP with 3.5.105 firmware. For my trunk settings, I have the following: Framing Mode dsx1ESF Line Coding Options dsx1B8ZS Circuit Identifier Loopback Configuration dsx1NoLoop Signal Mode messageOriented Transmit Clock Source loopTiming NIC Type longHaul Response to Remote Loopback respond Jitter Attenuation attenJitterOnRcvr Transmit Line Build Out dB0pt0 Dial In Address dnis Dial In/Out Trunk Start Signal Type wink Ack Wink On Dial In Address Info Received disabled Dial Out Address Delay 70 Dial In/Out Trunk Type eAndMTypeII Primary Switch Type priSwNI2 (SAME RESULTS WITH priSw5ESS) Idle Byte Pattern 254 Receiver Gain dB26 Tone Type dtmf Number of DTMF Tones 4 Send Code dsx1SendNoCode External Signaling Mode (will take effect next boot) none Overlap Receiving Mode disable Overlap Receiving Inbound Digits Expected 12 Overlap Receiving Timeout Delay 12 For NFAS settings, I have: NFAS Interface ID 0 Logical Group Number 0 NFAS Span D-Channel Type dChannelNone Logical Group Type nfas If I change NFAS Span D-Channel Type to dChannelPrimary (the default) I get the red light on LPBK/D-CHAN The Qwest tester hasn't been much help with the settings, I'm wondering if anyone else knows what the "standard" settings should be. Thanks in advance for any clues.
