Here's how I do it, don't know if 100% correct but it works: on the Hiper ARC: set ppp ccp all On the access-accept, the Radius server sends "USR-Compression-Algorith = Auto". Result: 49.3K connection, download 1 MB of pure text, up to 1000kbps of throughput. Real world result is web pages and email transfer noticeably faster. Don't know how it affects cpu usage and such, my primary chassis is running 96 ports on a single Hiper ARC with no problems. - Joel -----Original Message----- From: alex [mailto:alex@wanex.ge] Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 5:47 PM To: usr-tc Subject: [USR-TC] Software compression. Any ideas? I want to enable software compression on my chassis (stac, ascend, mppc). I think that if I enable it some users will get more download speed (when downloading not compressed information - like html sites). What can affect ccp on my chassis and on client side? Does ccp take memory and/or cpu (if yes - how much)? What compression is better? ( 120+ connects on HiperARC 64Mb. DSP - E1/R2 ) _______________________________________________ USR-TC mailing list USR-TC@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/usr-tc
