Not sure what the Hiper Arc's limits are for maximum local users. I did find this tidbit online: You can have 1000 users with the existing HiPerARC releases ( 4.1.72 or any other ERs) To increase the maximum number of users, there is a CLI command SET MAXIMUM_LOCAL_USERS xxxx and SHOW MAXIMUM_LOCAL_USERS will display it. Currently the default value is 450. So if you increase it to 1000 you can add 1000 local users. There was talk of setting the default to 1024 , this may have been done for 4.1.59 **************** What code are you using on your arc? You may want to try reflashing the image on the card. I've never had more then 2 or 3 local users setup on an arc since we use radius for auth. May want to switch over to radius instead of using local users. Also...found this tidbit online: Question Total Control HiPer ARC - Definition for the Configuration File Manager message "The configuration file<filename>is corrupt. Status<error status>." Answer Below is the message description includes information about the meaning of the message, and if necessary, any corrective action can be taken. Meaning: The Configuration file has been corrupted. It will be renamed to<filename>.bad Action: Keep a copy of the<filename>.bad file. If the file was uploaded to using TFTP, upload the file again making sure the TFTP transfer mode is set to octet I'd reflash myself. Todd: At your suggestion I turned on logging: set facility "user manager" loglevel verbose show events
I added the user 'dave' and did a 'save all' no problem, no message. BUT, when I did the 'delete user' 'show user' 'save all' shown below, I got a message about file corruption. Sure enough there was user_settings.bad. A subsequent 'save all' went OK. I'm not sure what's is meant by 'corrupt' Do you?
I have approx 400 users defined in this system. All with 'add user' (no Radius) Is this a problem?
What do you suggest? Thanx... .....Jim Rettew

Can you pull the file off the arc and read it somehow and see if there's any useful info in it?
Also...maybe try this:
set facility "user manager" loglevel verbose show events
and see if you notice anything strange when you add the users.

Greetings: I have a "TotalControl" dial in server, running code version 4.2.32-1. When I add a new user from the CLI, "user_settings.cfg" gets updated and a file named: "user_settings.bad" also gets created.. hmmmm?
System still works, until reboot. After reboot SPAN config seems intact. IP config is intact because I can still telnet to it... BUT, all users are gone.
Any ideas? Thanx.. ....Jim Rettew
