You can always do it command line via snmpset....assuming this post actually works I'll post the OIDS FYI. Todd ----- Original Message ----- From: <venge@lokalsound.com> To: <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 3:27 PM Subject: RE: [USR-TC] Changing IP address on NMC
Thanks. Unfortunately highlighting the NMC and clicking on Configure tells me it can't be configured. I was actually hoping there was a command line way to do it.
I was hoping that the usr would see what ip I gave to my eth0 and just assign one higher (ex: eth0 -> 192.168.0.2 nmc would take 192.168.0.3)
Thanks for the info, hopefully I can get it to work :)
Here's my 3:00 in the morning notes on how to do it.
To re-number NMC's through Total Control Manager:
1. Open up Total Control Manager and select the chassis containing the NMC to be renumbered. 2. Once the chassis is ?discovered? by Total Control, select the NMC slot by clicking on it. 3. Go to the ?Configure? menu, and then select ?Programmed Settings?. 4. From the ?Programmed Settings? menu, select ?User Interface Configuration? 5. Click on the box containing the information you would like to change. (A thicker black border indicates which box is selected. 6. Three pieces of information need to be modified 1.)Select the LAN IP Address box and enter the IP for which you want assigned to the NMC. 2.) Enter the LAN Subnet Mask number. 3.)Finally, Select the DeFault Gateway box and enter the Gateway number. 7. After the three (3) changes have been made; click on the ?OK? button on the right-hand side on the screen. 8. Then go to the ?Configure? menu and select ?Action/Commands? 9. In ?Action/Commands? select ?software? in the left-hand ?Command to Execute? window and in the window just to the right, select option ?Save UI to EEPROM? from the drop down menu by clicking on it to select. Then click the ?Execute? button in the upper right-hand corner. 10. After the command is successfully executed, perform a ?Software reset? by going back to the ?Configure? menu and again selecting ?Actions/Commands? . In the ?Commands to Execute? left-hand box select ?Software? and in the right-hand box select ?Software Reset?. Click the ?Execute? button. When completed successfully, click close. CONTINUED? 11. Go into Total Control Manager and add a new chassis. To do this; from the opening ?grey? screen of TCM, choose ?File? and select ?New? from the drop down list. Enter the new IP of the NMC. 12. Once this chassis is finished being configured as a new device, select the device from the list of created devices and open it up. (This is to be sure the new device can be discovered using it?s new IP) 13. If the device is discovered and viewed in TCM, then delete the ?old? device config in TCM. 14. The End

I am using the USR HiperArc (with NMC) V4.1.59 and would like to know if it is possible (and the command) to change the ip address of the NMC.
I can telnet to the chassis, but I do not see any command to change the NMC settings. Anybody have any ideas?
If more info is needed, please let me know.
Thanks Jeff
