You can set traps for this from TCM. After you have set all traps (enableTrap) that you want you have to set trap destination. Its in Faults menu. There you set ip addres (or hostname) of computer where alarm server is running and set community string (like password) of this alarm server. Alarm server is included with TCM but it really sucks. It doesnt need community string at all. I think in web you can find a good alarm server for unix/linux. You can log traps to radius server. Set all traps (enableLog) and Logging group on NMC. matthew@the-spa.com wrote:

i have had an occasional (once a week or less) problem where 1 or 2 d channels on different cards will be out of service for no apparent reason.
i found the place where you can set a trap for that and have it sent to an ip of a monitoring station.
but what software would i run to receive these traps?
what would ultimately work best would be something where it sends the message about what channel is out of service and then i could have it automatically forward it to my pager via email.
is this simple and i'm just missing it?
