I reflashed cards on the first chassis and the problem seems to have gone away. Using TCM, if you select the HiperNMC and then click on the performance monitor then select "Status Group" it would show the Packet Bus Clocking Source to be BackplaneActive. On the problem chassis' it showed the clock source to be NMC instead of BackplaneActive. All the chassis' that work show BackPlaneActive. I couldn't find any reason why the Packet Bus Clocking Source would not switch from NMC to BackPlane. We plan to install this next chassis tomorrow at a POP 100 miles away. The last problem was at a POP 250 miles away. If tomorrow goes fine, then we will try the third chassis. I still don't know what the real problem is. I am interested because, we too have a similiar situation. I have
two
complete chassis, both of which have been completely defaulted and reloaded with new firmware. And later re-defaulted and reloaded with an older firmware (just in case.) We spent two days on site, with the telco switch engineer (co is only one block away.) We were unable to solve the problem, installed some ancient ISPorte modems that answered on the first attempt with default settings. I was glad to see this resurface, as I have 2 complete chassis sitting in a broom closet at a remote pop 120 miles from our main office waiting for this to be solved. We are now running 3 CT1's into the ISPorte there, but I have left one spare CT1 in the T/C for testing. Please let us know what happens with the other two chassis. Are you able to replace the cards in the working chassis and still have it work?
Thank you, -Wayne

The problem wasn't configuration on the HiperDSP. Three chassis' later (all with different HiperDSP/ HiperArc and HiperNMC card sets) it is up and running. I don't know what the packetbus problem was. I'm hoping that a complete config wipe and reflash of all cards will bring my remaining 2 "broken" chassis back to life. Two chassis are doing the same thing. A third configured the same as the first two works fine. So I don't know what the problem was, just what it wasn't. Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
