The ethernet IP address is incorrect 2. The subnet mask is incorrect 3. The gateway IP address is incorrect 4. Changes were not saved before the NMC card rebooted 5. Memory crashed which caused the NMC to restore its settings from default 6. NMC NIC jumper is set for NAC 7. NMC is on the wrong slot 8. Bad NMC cards either NIC or NAC 9. Bad cabling 10. Bad port on hub 11. Ethernet cable not attached to the correct NMC NIC port 12. No cable is attached Answer To configure the Total Control Network Management Card, 1. Pull out the NMC's NIC and NAC cards 2. On the NMC's NIC card, make sure that the J2 jumper is set for NMC, rather than NAC 3. On the NMC's NAC card, make a note on how dip switches 1 and 2 are positioned: DIP Switch Baud 1 2 Rate ----------------------- OFF OFF 9600 OFF ON 19200 ON OFF 38400 ON ON 57600 4. Re-insert the cards back into the chassis on slot 17. Insert the NIC first before the NAC. 5. Set your terminal's baud rate to match the baud rate settings on the NMC's NAC card 6. Once you get the Main Menu, type 1, then press ENTER to access the Local LAN IP Address menu. 7. Type 1, then press ENTER to access the LAN IP Address menu. 8. Type the new LAN IP Address, then press ENTER. 9. Type 2, then press ENTER to access the LAN IP Subnet Mask menu. 10. Type the new LAN IP Subnet Mask, then press ENTER. 11. Hit ESC to go back to the Configuration Menu. 12. Type 3, then press ENTER to access the Local Gateway IP Address menu. 13. Type the new Gateway IP Address, then press ENTER. 14. Hit ESC to go back to the Configuration Menu. 15. Type 9, then press ENTER to "Save Configuration To Non-Volatile Memory" 16. Hit ESC when DONE to go back to the Configuration Menu. 17. Hit ESC once more to go back to the Main Menu 18. Type 2, then press ENTER to access the Command Menu 19. Type 1, then press ENTER to reboot the Total Control Network Management Card 20. Type Y, then press ENTER to confirm the reboot request. 21. Insert an ethernet cable on the back of the NMC NIC card and make sure the ethernet cable is hooked up to the ethernet port. 22. Make sure that the other end of the ethernet cable is connected to a HUB which is connected with the rest of the network. You should now be able to ping and access the Total Control Network Management Card via network. If you are still unable to communicate with the Total Control Network Management Card via network then 1. Replacing the ethernet cable. 2. Try a different port on the HUB.
