old netserver question

OK, so I am way out of practice here on netservers, can anyone still on the list give me a hand? I have a Netserver PRI chassis with 2 PRIs coming into it. the telco is saying that he has traffic on both spans, but I am only getting calls on the first 6 quad modem cards. I know that I am just missing something real obvious config statement, but does anyone remember/use the command to make sure all modem cards/channels are in use? the netserver is running V3.8.1 code. Blocked channels in MultiSpan

Hi, I have a problem with a TC chasis ARC ver. 5.1.99 Multispan ver. 3.0.114, the problem is that each day i found blocked channels (max. 20- 30) when a user try to connect to the chasis PBX that redirect to call to the 6 E1 in 2 Multispan, the user listen the tone busy from the chasis, but when i see in the chassis i found that some channels are free but blocked... How i can solved this problem? How i can see alarms when a channels is blocked? the only way to unblock the channels is calling to Telco Company and they block out the channels.. thanks for your help... Wilder Tafur

Bogus framing, attack, or?

I had a chassis (HARC and HDSP) completely go off the air. There were no alarm lights and everything appeared totally normal, but all 6 PRIs were giving fast busy. Rebooting the HARC and all HDSPs changed nothing. A few minutes later, rebooted a DSP again and it came up with ALM and Loopback/D-ALM red. Reboot once more and it starts taking calls. Rinse, lather, repeat and on the other 5 HDSPs. In the modem log, I found this: Apr 5 06:03:03 At 20:40:33, Facility "Configurator", Level "CRITICAL":: Illegal device type received in a Device Discovery message, device type: 0, location type: 2, location: <elided>, units: 23. These started just before 06:00 and happened every few minutes until 06:20, when the busy signal condition occurred. There would be a large cluster of them (20-30) each time. The location: info sounds right for an Osaka phone number, so this has me wondering if it was some kind of bogus framing info from the switch (NTT switch) that caused the HARC to fall over, if the problem was really on the switch end, or if this was some odd type of attack. Kirk, The provider is wrong - and the setting 5ESS in the Switch Type in the TCM is the correct setting if you get your provider to change to 5ESS Custom. You definitely want Custom if its available for the reasons described by others in previous messages. It will alleviate your symptoms that you are currently having with inability to busy out DS0s, etc. I have no clue why your provider would claim that NI2 is a better setting. Might want to set RIP routing too - but you said that you have a static route in your gateway router so there wouldn't be any need for RIP. But you'd set this route to be RIPd in the same section if you were going to depend upon TC RIP broadcasts to dump routes into your gateway router.
