Dear UMEA members: Classical 89 Radio announced this week that it will be discontinued at the end of June 2018. If you feel inclined, consider adding your name to the petition to preserve this valuable teaching tool and resource (http://www.utahculturalalliance.org/save_classical_89). The optimal goal of the petition is to preserve Classical 89 as free radio, something accessible to every income demographic around the clock, and a staple of arts promotion and cultivation in Utah. Another goal is to fight the elimination of an arts education tool and to bring to the foreground classical music as something that everyone should have access to in their lives. It is too monumental a decision to let it go unchecked. BYU Broadcasting has not yet been clear as to the amount of classical music programming they plan for the new platform. There are two upcoming meetings that you may be interested in attending in order to ask specific questions and state your concerns - November 3rd and 8th at 10:00 am in the BYU Broadcasting Building, 701 E. University Parkway, Provo, UT. Thank you, Rhonda Rhodes, UMEA President
