Web sting nabs Roy man

Salt Lake Tribune

A Roy man who flew to Detroit last Wednesday allegedly expecting to meet a mother and her two young girls for illicit sex was instead arrested at the airport by an FBI agent. Jonathan Owens Sr., 52, was arrested on suspicion of traveling in interstate commerce with the intent of engaging in a sexual act with a person younger than 12, and for knowingly transporting child pornography, according to a criminal complaint. In February, Owens began chatting with an FBI agent posing as a Michigan mother of two girls, ages 3 and 5, who was interested in "family fun." Owens asked the "woman" if she would be interested in involving the children in sexual activities, according to the complaint. A Detroit federal court ordered him held without bail. - Lisa Rosetta
