Bike helmets do work! I fell off my bike last year and landed on my head. Even though the side of my head was bleeding profusely, my head was just fine. By the way, I was wearing a Giro as well. I emailed the company to see what their replacement policy is. They gave me a 30% discount and I was happy to get another Giro since the first one saved my noggin. Just an FYI......
