Hi Cyclists,
I have been working with Raleigh Fehr
and other officers of your cycling club for the last couple of months regarding
the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure. ADA has arranged the
Tour next June to avoid conflict with the Little Red Riding Hood Century and the
MS-150 so that people can do all three events.
This message is to invite all of you
to join the Gold's Gym Utah Tour de Cure cycling team. Raleigh authorized
me to make this invitation and he fully endorses the joining of forces here to
create a huge team that will make an impact on fighting Diabetes that effects
18,000,000 Americans. Gold's Gym is a National Sponsor raising funds for
the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The Gold's Gym Utah team was
the National winner last year among all of the Gold's teams that participated in
the Tour de Cures around the country. We raised about $30,000 with 53 team
members. I'd like to have several hundred team members in next year's Tour
and raise more than $100K for ADA. I've invited more than a dozen clubs
around Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming to join us in this effort. BBTC is the
largest club so I hope we can get well over 50 members to join the team.
When 50 join, the name of the team will be changed to include BBTC as part
of the team name.
Incentives:
* Free Cycling Jersey from
Gold's Gym made by Cannondale to every member who reaches the $100 fund raising
minimum.
* Free Cycling Shorts from
Gold's Gym to match the jerseys for every member who reaches the $500 fund
raising level.
* Chance to win a free Spin
Bike (used) retail value over $1000 from Gold's Gym. There my be more than
one given away.
* Chance to win a Trek 320 Road
Frame, size 54cm, more information on this later from ADA.
* ADA gives socks, jerseys,
pants, jacket, carry bag, etc. to people who raise various levels of money for
the Tour.
Please put June 10, 2006 down as the Tour de Cure
in Brigham City and ride 100, 60, or 25 miles on a great team. The ride is
well supported with several rest stops, lunch, and an after ride BBQ and award
ceremony.
If you don't want to ride please consider
sponsoring me for the ride.
Regards,
Stan Swallow, Gold's Gym Utah Cycling
