My feeling on the looming setlist is this: I agree that it will be a SYNCHRONICITYesque setlist, a "greatest hits" setlist. That, to me, is unfortunate for these reasons: (1) the tour will no doubt be buried critically, as yet another "old" band reforming to make one last stab at the cash. sure, this very well may be the case, but I do not like to read or hear about it at every turn. (2) musicianship: we are not talking about a CSNY reunion, or yet another Stones jaunt around the world. We are talking about a band that, when you add up the abilities of the members, is, as far as musicianship goes, is one of the finest bands ever in existence. so for them to "just do the hits"? that is a waste not only of their abilities, but also will cheapen the tour for me...because i KNOW that they could do/play just about anything. in a perfect world, they would not only play a different setlist every nite, but (like rush has done for its past few tours) there should be no opening act. (3) WE - people on this list, people that are true and sincere fans of this band - deserve better. unfortunately, this tour is not about us. it is about the corporate crowd. those that will pay a couple thousand for a luxury box, so they can tell all their pals that "yeah, i went to see the police last week. it was alright." ("ALRIGHT"?!) it's about those that know little about the police (let alone are a fan) that will go see them because it is "the thing to do", because the tour will no doubt be some type of hype or fad that john Q. public wants to get in on. don't get me wrong, there are none happier about this tour. i have NEVER seen the police live and i plan to follow them around the east coast like a deadhead. but i have a feeling that i will leave all these shows thrilled...but deep down knowing they could have played better. but, as they say, beggars cannot be choosy! and look at it this way...at least we will not hear "a thousand years"! rich ____________________________________________________________________________________ Expecting? Come on, you guys are too much! Two months ago no one would even dare to dream about a Police reunion. Take me, for instance, I have never seen my favorite band live (they played in Lisbon 500 meters from my house when I was seven...) and I had already assumed that I would die without having that privilege. Now that the ABSOLUTE MIRACLE is about to happen, people are already complaining about an unknown setlist! Come on, let them do whatever they want, now is the time to give them a break, I don't give a s**t if it's for the money, the wales, the rainforest, or any other reason. And I don't care if they play gingle bells, I just want to see them.
