Today's winner...Giacomo, named after Sting's son. 50 to 1 longshot meaning $20 bet would have paid $1000. Why didn't I know the Sting connection before the race?
Hi! I know...there had been no mention of the Sting connection that I know of before the telecast of the race on NBC (they mentioned it on air at least three times). I did see the horse's name on the list in the paper last night and thought...gee that's the name of Sting's youngest, but thought that it was just a coincidence. I was rooting for Afleet Alex due to the Philly connection and the connection to Alex's Lemonade stands (which is such a worthwhile cause). I posted on Sting.com to see if anyone had happened to bet on this horse (so far have not heard any stories of winning bettors!). I wish I would have...it would have helped with the ticket fund for the next tour! Hi all! Just wanted to let you know that Sting is one of the featured artists on a new CD released by Disney called "Wishes". The song on the CD from Sting is "My Funny Friend and Me" from The Emperor's New Groove. I know that many of you probably already have this song in your collection, but the cool thing about this CD is that $5.00 from every sale of the CD goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For those of you not familiar with Make-A-Wish, it grants wishes for children between the ages of 2 and 1/2 to 18 who have a life threatening illness. As a person who has been involved with Make-A-Wish since I had my own wish granted in 1991, I can testify that this organization is a wonderful one to support and I am thrilled that Sting is on this CD. Btw, my wish was for a computer, back in 1991 they were not that common an item to have in your own home and I really wanted one to help finish high school and take with me to college. I debated for weeks on a computer versus meeting Sting...the computer (practical side) won out. I am still hoping to meet Sting someday :-) Hilary For more information on the CD: http://www.wish.org/home/news/news_ftr_DisneyCD_042805.htm
