This is indeed a remix, for all the reasons Attis mentioned. Most of us generally don't like remixes. What would you have thought if you heard the Desert Rose remix before hearing the album version? Remixes strip out the musicianship in the song in favor of rhythm for the sake of commercial appeal. I'm sure the album version will be much different. I wish a remix were unnecessary, but unfortunately it is in order for the song to work commercially. So I'll allow Sting one commercial hook in exchange for a great album. That said though, I don't dislike the song. It's grown on me. I don't think you can stand still while listening. And I actually like the lyrics. This seems to be his post-9/11 song, which I was dreading. But it's understated -- you can read into the lyrics whatever you want. It's a "positive" song a la Brand New Day: "...there's no religion but sex and music, there's no religion but sound and dancing, there's no religion but line and color, there's no religion but the joys of rhythm, there's no religion in the path of hatred, there's no religion that's right or winning, there ain't no prayer but the one I'm singing... Send your love..." -----Original Message----- From: Mate Attila [mailto:attis@nagyatad.hu] Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2003 4:49 PM To: Police lista Subject: Re: [Police] send your love Hi there, I think this is a remix of the original tracks from Caldrone or Dave Audé. There isn't Dominic's guitar, there isn't Vinnei's or Manu's drums and seems like there is a synth bass. And where is Vincente Amigo's acoustic guitar? This is a remix not the original! Peace and respect!
