[Police] 10. Re: Police] On the subject of lyrics and their meaning....
Okay... so thats the 6 inch band sorted in We Work The Black Seam.. I must admit I recalled it because I'm from a mining community and the closure of the coal mines in favour of nuclear power was everywhere at the time of the last british miners strike. But perhaps now one of you could help me... What on earth is Sting singing about on the Japanese version of De Do Do Do? I found a very good website which translated the Spanish version of De Do Do Do.. and it was a love/lust song instead of the more political version we are used to..(it would appear that Stings dirtiest lyrics are often in another language! .. Hungry For You?) But what does the Japanese version translate as? Does anyone out there have the answer? Failing that... I know Ghost In The Machine was Koestler, and Synchronicity , Jung... but are any other sting / police albums linked to any great philosophical/literary works? ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends? Nothing Like the sun... Is taken from a Shakespeare sonnet The Soul Cages is based on an old tale - for the life of me I can't remember what it was called - it may have been the soul cages, but I think it was similar to The Soldiers tale, where a fisherman wagered his own soul, and if he couldn't drink the king of the sea under the table, then his own soul was to be put in a lobster pot forever.... Or something like that. If anyone has reference to that story (not the Jack Docherty one.. I don't seem to remember that version), then I'd love to know what it's called.
