The original video for Fortress around your heart starts with a short prelude. All I can recall of it is a midget trailing after Sting calling, 'Mr Sting, Mr Sting'
Does anyone have this lying around ? I cannot find it and it certainly doesnt exist on any of the video tapes I have.
So you made me look through my collection, and I found it. It goes like this: Man in white suit puts 8mm video tape on top of a VCR. "Here it is". Woman's voice: "Did he take the money?" Man, with a slight sneer, "Of course." --- Legs of White Suit and Midget on wooden walkway. ---- Sting asleep, on his back. His face is unshaved, and covered in sweat. Sound of thunder. He opens his eyes, startled. Midget is saying, "Mr. Sting, Mr. Sting, wakey wakey. Mr. Sting, you have a visitor. I think he remembers." Sting sits up to look at White Suit lounging in doorway. White Suit says, "You're a hard man to find." Sting says, "Not hard enough." Meanwhile we can see he's living in something like an abandoned warehouse. ---- Woman's hand rubbing her well-dressed arm, gold watch on her wrist. Woman's voice says, "How did he look?" White suit's voice: "Older." ---- Sting counting money. "Just one song." He asks/states. "And I'll choose it." ---- Woman's voice: "Play it." Tape goes in VCR. --- What follows is the video we all know, of Sting, still unshaven and in his slept-in clothes, singing "Fortress" in that warehouse while White Suit is filming him. It also includes a few glimpses of the woman, watching on her TV. (I don't remember if those appear in the short version.) ---- Final scene: Sting is wallpapering his room with the money, whistling, "Roxanne." It's such a funny, self-mocking story, which adds a lot to the video (which is great by itself) and I can't figure out why this version has disappeared. Orit in Israel
This version of the video has been doing the rounds on the Music Max channel on Fox cable here in Australia, over the past week.
