I have to say it is awfully offensive to make the statements about STUNG when one has never seen them. I sat in on a show over the weekend and they were excellent. For a few seconds I shut my eyes and could swear I was hearing The Police in early 1979. How many people did The Police play before at CBGBs? You can bet people were making the same uninformed decisions. Perhaps ignorance is bliss to some; I prefer to make an informed judgment, and these guys can play. They are far better than the bands they are opening for, and have an appreciation for early Police work, which they pull off admirably. STUNG is the real deal, and it is utterly refreshing to hear these Police songs done live and so well. We should be thankful there are bands today with talent and an awareness of the greatness of The Police, with so much crap out there, especially on TV (and the radio isn't much better). Keep it going STUNG! Stephen S. Dear Dietmar,
although there is nothing like the real The Police, I believe that Stung does a pretty good job and I believe that saying they "suck" is a rather crude thing to say, although I respect your opinion. They are heavy Police fans and that is for sure reflected in the way they perform the songs, influenced by the many bootlegs they have been listening too for sure!.
Cheers, Karel

Hi,
I had a look at the website of STUNG and some other Police cover bands. After downloading several mp3s I have to say - they suck! Especially Stung from America and Mr. Police from Germany (I guess the last one's a comedy group).
Stop bragging.
Dietmar

hey!
as we all know, all 5 police studio albums are absolutely fantastic. it always bothers nme to hear critics say how poor an album "zenyatta" is - that is just not true. take away the singles, the remixes and whatever else and you atill have a GREAT album: "voices", "shadows", "man in a suitcase". awesome stuff...

On the subject of Sting Putting Down his previous albums Solo And With The Police..
Well the ultimate must be Zenyatta Mondatta!...Sting claimed in various interviews that the album was not what it could of been (the album was rushed due to Miles booking anouther tour to cash in on The Police's new found international fame by this point in mid-1980) According to Andy...when the band along with Nigel Gray listened to the playback of all the completed tracks for the album, it sounded dreadful...so amazingly they Remixed the whole album from scratch through the night and finished mixing all the tracks around 4am the next morning.
Adding to this, it did not help matters during the recording of Zenyatta Mondatta, when the band were getting endless phone calls from the Record Company, as the band were under a lot of pressure from the marketing machine to get the album finished on time.
But because of the pressure, in my opinion, they made the best Police album. The Police had perfected 'The Police Sound' even more so than Reggatta De Blanc, until they changed the style which would then become Ghost In The Machine & Synchronicity.
The album broke the guys in the states, and De Do Do Do De Da Da Da became the bands biggest hit since Roxanne. Also back home in the UK, Don't Stand So Close To Me was the biggest selling single of 1980.
Two album tracks from Zenyatta Mondatta became Remix singles, Voices Inside My Head & When The World Is Running Down, were remixed by Roger Sanchez and DifferentGear, with both singles topping the Dance charts in the UK.
It just proves The Police's songs on Zenyatta Mondatta were highly original and very catchy, and have some of the best guitar passages i have ever heard I do not agree that The Police should of been under pressure to record that album, as it can effect the album to an extent but if they were not under any pressure, i don't think they would of put so much into it, as The Police new that this was going to be the big breakthrough album, so they made it the best possible...and i think you can hear that with Zenyatta Mondatta. There was 2 Polls recently....with Zenyatta topping both and making Synchronicity second place!
Even Amazon rate this as the best Police Album!

i agree with stevie. due to the fact that our fearless leader would rather perform with backstreet than andy and stewart, police cover bands serve an important purpose... rich --- "Stephen S. Sayad" <stevess@saber.net> wrote:
