Membership to the police fan club
How many of you on this board took membership up? Hearing all of the crap that has gone on with codes and the like has made me wonder whether or not is worth outlaying $130 Aussie dollars on it. I know that the lads will tour down here later in the year, but I am sceptical about joining. Thoughts?? Thanks! Cheers from down here! -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I bought the membership from ticketbastard when I got tickets for Giants Stadium. It was actually quite easy, you just had to add it to your order, no code... I was able to get 4 seats in sect 12. The only reason I did it was because I could only get single tickets to the shows at MSG when they went on sale to the general public, and my friends agreed to split the cost of the membership to get good seats, so we¹re each paying $125 instead of $100 for the tickets, not too bad... maybe some of you can get together and do that... ?? (If there are any shows left to go on sale!) I can¹t believe how many of you are having trouble getting tickets!! I¹ve been reading all the posts and I get angry every time, I feel for you!!!! Praying to the ticket gods for everyone, Dr. Alli On 3/8/07 12:42 AM, "Mathew Hoffman" <mathew@wattobay.com> wrote:

Re: [Police] Membership to the police fan clubFor me, it was totally worth it. I got floor seats at Denver and am certain I wouldn't have gotten them in the general sale. Also, you get a litho and access to the multimedia stuff. And if you break down the prices over the course of a year it's not much at all. The people who had trouble were the ones who were trying to buy tickets to the MSG show, which is probably the highest demand venue of all the US venues. I think a lot of people had very unrealistic expectations of what they were going to be able to get there. Haven't heard of anywhere near that much trouble at the other venues. The only other place I heard complaints about was Dallas. Apparently (this coming from Texans) Dallas is very corrupt and scalping is legal there, so it's always harder to get decent seats for face value there. I really do think it's worth the extra money. For me, the membership paid off as I was able to get a very nice block of 4 seats together in the 100 level for the Philly show (I don't like floor seats so I didn't even look), which I really wanted for myself and family. When I checked during the regular sale, the only tickets coming up were up in the 300 section, nowhere near as good, and not 4 all together. So for the ease getting tickets as I wanted, it was worth the extra $25 a ticket. Plus, the way I look at it, if TPT.com runs at all the way Sting.com has from my understanding (I never joined there), I doubt the presales are the only special benefit that may come through the fanclub. Already they've had some giveaways of autographed materials, and I really would not be surprised if there ended up being a special "members-only" show or other such event at some point during the year. Hey, you never know...I just don't want to be kicking myself months down the line if something like that happens and I don't even have a chance to get in on it. sockii
Several fan club members have chimed in, so I'll chime in from the other side of the road about why I am not joining. :-) 1. I love The Police, Stewart, Andy, and Sting (I maintain the longest-running Police / Andy / Stewart / Sting web site on the INTERNET. I think only this awesome list of Pete's has been around online longer). 2. I would absolutely adore seeing them in concert together. It would be the highlight of all of my concert-going experiences ever (I was too young to know or care who they were the first time around). BUT 3. If I fail to get really good seats after paying $100 for membership, I'll feel cheated, and my respect for our boys will undoubtedly be impacted. I would rather risk not seeing them, than risk feeling forever cheated by them or their fan club. So, instead of spending $100 in the hopes of getting better seats, I am planning to take that money and donate it to charity instead. I know there are lots of ways to get tickets - and I'll willingly settle for nosebleeds myself. I'll gladly take my chances outside of the fan club and outside of Best Buy. Right now I'm just holding out the hopes that Chicago dates are announced soon, otherwise I might not be going at all! Good luck to everyone getting tickets - may we all get great seats through whatever methods work! :-) - Marisa http://www.stingetc.com Mathew Hoffman <mathew@wattobay.com> wrote: How many of you on this board took membership up?
