Re: Various things...
Hey all, Well, it turns out that even when my mails get bounced back to me, they do end up on the list a day later, so never mind.:) Thanks for the link to the new mix of "Moon Over Bourbon Street"; I like it a lot (as does my mum). Funnily enough, we saw "Interview With The Vampire" on TV last night... anyways, is it just me, or can you almost hear something from "Big Lie, Small World" in this mix? As for the "Send Your Love" lyrics, this is the version posted on the list earlier, with my alterations based on what I think he's singing: Send your love into the future Send your love into the distant time This is your night at the relay station A mission forward into the unknown (unknowing?) We'll send a seed to a distant future And we can watch a galaxy growin' This ain't no time for hidin' your power, this ain't no time for hidin' your care Climbin' down from an ivory tower, you've got a stake in the world we ought to share See the stars they're movin' so slowly, but still the earth is movin' so fast Can't you see the moon is so lonely, she's still trapped in the pain of the past This is the time of the worlds collidin' This is the time of kingdoms fallin' This is the time when the world's dividin' time to heed your call Send your love into the future Send your precious love into some distant time I'll face that moon in tatters(?) with the love of your healin' Send your love Oh, send your love No religion but sex and music There's no religion but sound and dancing There's no religion but line and color There's no religion but sacred trance There's no religion but the endless ocean There's no religion but the moon and stars There's no religion but time and motion There's no religion just travel scars I throw a stone into the ocean (this is most likely to be wrong; I've mislaid my copy of the song deep in the bowels of RealPlayer's library and I'm not listening while writing this, so this is from memory of playing the track a dozen or so times) I see the ripples manage(not manage, but I'm not sure what it actually is) in the distance It's just the same with all the emotion It's just the same in every instance No religion but the joys of rhythm No religion but the rites of spring No religion in the path of hate No prayer but the one I sing Send your love into the future Send your precious love into some distant time I'll face that moon in tatters(?) with the love of your healin' Send your love Oh, send your love No religion but sex and music There's no religion that's right or winnin' No religion in the path of hatred Ain't no prayer but the one I'm singin' Send your love Send your love As to the sacredlove.com domain, this is interesting for a few reasons. Firstly, I'd love to know who owns it: we've known the album title for a while now, but if the owner was hoping to sell it to Sting himself (cyber-squatting) I'd imagine they'd be asking a lot more than the figure quoted. So maybe it's just coincidence: afterall, Sting can't be the first person to put "Sacred" and "Love" together in a title, so the owner may just have had the domain for ages. I'm intrigued by the idea of our clubbing together to buy it; if we end up doing this I might well put a bit of cash into it, and I'd happily contribute reviews and pictures when Sting comes here on the tour. But I am concerned about the legal possibilities. Remember how a few years ago, Sting sued the then owner of the sting.com domain? Granted, the waters were muddied by: a) the fact that the man had posted links on the site to where arms could be bought, which annoyed Sting because he feared that something which so obviously conflicted with his image as a family entertainer would become associated with him b) the domain owner having alleged that he'd tried selling the site to Sting before and c) the issue of whether or not one can fairly have a claim on a word which has meanings apart from the name which one trades under and is generally known by Would there be any potential problems with our buying the domain and using it, even though obviously it would be labelled as an unofficial site? Although as I said, "Sacred Love" is not a phrase unique to Sting's album title, I am concerned that since it will be a name which will become very famous (inevitably, in light of Sting's prominence as an artist), there might be similar legal problems down the road. I don't mean to pour cold water on the plan, but you hear so much these days about fansites of one sort or another facing legal problems, that I thought maybe we should check it out first... All the best, Angeline _________________________________________________________________ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
