I hadn't seen him standing before either. Also, when Sting is lip synching, (and obviously not playing the bass) are Andy and Stewart really playing? How does that work with a live audience? Do they hear two sets of drums, Andy and Sting's voice? Michelle In a message dated 1/26/04 10:47:06 PM, mailGary@mn.rr.com writes:

Did he do this a lot? I don't think I've ever seen him do that before.

Lip synching is very common in German TV shows. Why? Most of the TV producers will tell you that playing live is too much work and lip synching is the easier way for both the artist and the TV crew. Most of the times the singer will only pretend that he's actually singing - so the audience won't hear him (there are exceptions however - I remember a very, very bad Enrique Iglesias recording on the internet which is supposed to be taken from a show where he was lip synching. Someone from the crew recorded his very.strange performance: http://www.madsb.com/enrique/indexeng.htm (I have warned you!)) Hello everybody from giovanni in Milan.

I usually work as a musician for some names coming to Italy (I did Geri Halliwell piano player as well as Joe Cocker bassist player, and someone else not as important as them); the curious thing is that even if everytime it's a playback recording/broadcasting, while with Geri it was easy as SHE doesn't even sing when she properly tour, for Joe it was a little bit serious: he wanted a Fender bas player (I have 2 Fender basses - what a coincidence) and when I met him he checked every little detail such as the age of the instrument, why the pick-ups were changed and some other technical stuff; that really surprised me, in a very good way I got to say, he's not even a bass player but what a serious artist is he!!! Always taking care of everything even if the broadcast was simply a playback! This is Mr. Joe Cocker (to share the stage with someone who did Woodstock was a little bit...shocking). Ciao ciao Giovanni
