This is not actually a track recorded in the '86 sessions, the ones that produced the new version of Don't Stand. This is the demo of De Do Do Do that Sting recorded a few years before that. When they were working on The Police greatest hits CD that was released in the DTS format they couldn't find the original masters of De Do Do Do. So they worked on the demo. This is what I've heard and I think it makes sense. The so called '86 version is too rough to be a final Police track. It's got that same "poppy" feel as DSSCTM '86, same drum machine sounds, and to me it does not sound like it has the energy of the earlier Police recordings nor the rawness of Sting's demos. It's a very polished and subdued version of the song....much more along the lines of the '86 sound....and if you listen carefully at the end, you can hear Sting "whoo ooohing" the DSSCTM tune, which would also make me think it was recorded at the same time....just my thoughts. Hi all, Just had a listen to dedododo 86 and it sound like DSSCTM 86. Similar drums patterns, nothing like the way Stewart plays normally. I asked Andy about it when he toured down here in 2001. Drum machines was used cause Stewart had broken his arm or wrist and had to recruit the help of a drum machine for these sessions....
