No Roxanne! NO ROXANNE?! when did this start? and what's worse, no This Bed's Too Big Without You.

Bed's Too Big was switched out for Hole in My Life since the Euro shows. Some of us (with tickets for the rest of this week at least) are freaking out because the last time they had to drop "Roxanne", it was at the last show before they postponed/cancelled 5 shows in Europe due to Sting's voice (seems it's the song that takes the hardest toll on him). sockii, trying not to panic about Philly this Wednesday.
Wow....I'm going to Montreal tomorrow...wonder what will happen there. Sting's voice began to break towards the end of Thursday's show in Toronto. During Truth Hits Everybody on Thursday he was hitting the high notes (instead of going down an octave). This was nice to see, but I wondered how long it would last. Sure enough, the next night he protected his voice more and mixed it up a bit - he only hit the high notes twice and the rest of the time he took it down (as he seems to have done on most of the tour). They shortened Roxanne on Friday a bit, but it wasn't voice related if I remember correctly. It was just the jam session that was a bit shorter. Well, we'll see what happens! It may sound nuts to you guys, but if I never hear that song again in my life, it will be too soon. For me, it is the intermission. Go to the washroom, grab a beer. -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of casimira@csail.mit.edu Sent: November 11, 2007 8:23 PM To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Police] Boston show Nov 11 No Roxanne! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjIXLYyqVnM A clip from The Filth and The Fury (2000) sex pistols Who Killed Bambi Sting hitchhiking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_Bambi%3F Who Killed Bambi? was to be the first film featuring the Sex Pistols which was due to be released in 1978. Russ Meyer was due to direct from a script by Roger Ebert and Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, the film was intended as a Punk rock version of A Hard Day's Night. As noted by Ebert in his obituary of Meyer, only a day and a half's worth of shooting was ever achieved, as the filming stopped due to financial problems. 20th Century Fox had put their money into the film, but were shocked by what they read in the script, that they pulled all funding, sets that had been built at Bray Studios in Berkshire were destroyed. The shot footage includes Sting as the leader of a pretty-boy pop group called The Blow-Waves that assault drummer Paul Cook as he stops to ask for directions.
That's especially weird (re: Roxanne) since the "quote of the day" at the official site last week was about how Sting can't imagine playing a show without Roxanne, and if he ever did people would probably be angry... Christopher --- Ross Viner <ross@rossviner.com> wrote:

I know why you say that, Ross, as I feel similarly about Every Breath...up to the point where you mentioned washroom break and grabbing a beer - I can't imagine going to the washroom or getting a beer DURING a Police show!! For me, the thought of missing just one note, even though I may have seen a song being performed many times before, is hard for me to fathom!!! Regarding Roxanne in particular, I am always interested to see what direction the semi-improvised middle section will take. I would certainly miss that song if it wasn't in the set, and I'm hoping it's there tonight in Montreal.
