Christie's auction in NYC today features Sting & Police items
Hello, I've been lurking again for a while. I found out the following information just recently myself, sorry I didn't post it sooner. In case anyone is interested: Famous auction house Christie's is holding a Pop and Rock Memorabilia sale in New York which will feature some Sting and Police items. The sale will be held on November 30, 2007 (today!) Included in the auction will be vintage concert posters, many record awards and a Rolling Stone cover plaque. More details are available on the official Christie's web site at http://www.christies.com . - Marisa http://www.stingetc.com --------------------------------- Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. Has anyone looked yet? Most, if not all, of the Police stuff and a fair share of other cool 80's band stuff (Smiths, Ramones, even No Doubt) is from Ian's estate. Some of it is noted as coming out of the Backstage Cafe, so I assume his kids decided to close it? Anyone know? Very sad. Ian always seemed really cool. Backstage Cafe isn't closed, but almost all of Ian's memorabilia was removed and a different decor put in (which resulted in a HUGE loss of the original atmosphere. There was almost nothing left of Ian there when I went in October. I won't go back. I prefer the memories). Yes, it seems Barbara and Chandra decided to auction some of the items. I know there were some fans interested in buying, but I don't know if they are going to really do it. Kind of like a chapter in the "Police book" closing. Sad.
