Hey Tommy in Durango, I was about 10 rows back far right for the Southpark Meadows gig. We had just moved to TX and I had seen him in Orlando right before we moved. Think my husband felt sorry for me being stuck in the middle of Texas and actually bought tix from a scalper for the first (and last) time. Yes, Jars of Clay was an odd choice, but at least they're still around. Can't remember who opened for him in Orlando. I would always think of that show fondly whenever we drove south past the old, decrepit sign. Now it's been razed and a big box shopping center is there. We were only here from 96-98 and then back again in 2002. I miss New England, lots of multiple concert options, but Austin's not such a bad place to be for other music options! <<I'm always griping that Sting only goes to Houston, SA and Dallas. Never Austin. Last time I saw Sting in Austin was I think in 1996 when we still had the larger outdoor amphitheater. >> Hey, Michelle in TX, my wife & I were there too. We had great tickets, something like ten rows, a little left of center. We lived in Austin back then, literally just a few blocks from . . . what was the venue called, Southpark Meadows? I like the open-air venues. Sting sounded really good that night. That was the Mercury Falling tour, when he did the "I'm So Happy. . ." au dience participation event. The Christian group Jars of Clay opened. I always thought that was a little bit odd. We also saw The Soul Cages concert at the Erwin Center a few years earlier. Concrete Blonde was the opening act. The sound was really terrible for that one, but I enjoyed that it was just Sting and three musicians. Tommy in Durango, Colorado
