Matt & Matt, I wholeheartedly agree! A chatty and generous Sting, a singing crowd, a "smaller" venue, a KICKASS Andy, three smiling boys, made this concert THE BEST of the five I've been to! And yeah, Stewart has to be the hardest working person up there!!! The energy in the room was palpable, what a night! The Police are now The Police. Everyone will enjoy assuming it stays this way... I have to say this, being from SoCal. I am a proud Los Angelian, Dodger fan, "blue-stater." But oh, how my "team" let me down this week!!! Jen and I were there together with her son (though not sitting together) and we both agree that it's been the best show we've seen so far (my 6th and her 4th). The crowd was great - singing along all night. Sting was very surprised and impressed, you could tell. He and Andy were goofing around with each other; Stewart was Mr. PermaGrin again. Just a great show all around and the crowd had a lot to do with that! I never expected it out of Anaheim, but WOW. Totally makes up for the sight of Dustin Hoffman and his wife making out in the seats in front of me during Walking on the Moon at the Staples show. I should also mention that De Do is almost back to "regular" speed as is Magic. Both are sounding much more like the original versions. Truth is still too slow, but it might be because Sting is having to read the verse lyrics and just can't get them out fast enough. Don't Stand can still use some more speed as it seems the audience wants it to go more quickly, but maybe that will come in time. I miss the old "curtain" for the dinosaur bones from the Vancouver shows. It's been replaced with cartoon-y looking bones "walking" across the video screens. The curtain was classier but maybe it blocked the view of the behind the stage seats. Andy was on FIRE last night. Overall, the speed and the pacing of the songs have improved dramatically. Sting was the most talkative that he has been of any of the three shows that I have seen. I guess he read one of the reviews from last night's show. Also, he was more encouraging in having the crowd sing along with him. Crowd participation was always Sting's strength with the Police in the past. It is nice to see this aspect coming back as well. Everyone is having fun. Huge smiles on Andy, Sting, and Stewart's faces each time they take or leave the stage. They are playful with one another on stage, which kind of makes me think that this might be it: one tour and done. I am kind of okay with that. It would be great if there were more. But if it ends after the tour, the fans got what they wanted, the Police make a boat load of money, and, most importantly, their legacy remains intact. For sure a live album and DVD will be released, probably with a Best Buy exclusive. I saw the Protools setup last night under the stage, as well as a variety of microphones set up around the stage to catch the crowd's response. I guess only time will tell. Sorry there wasn't much on specific about each song. I was too busy annoying the crowd around with my singing. One more show on Saturday and that may be it until the fall. I really looking forward to seeing the Foo Fighters open up for the Police. Wouldn't it be great if Dave Grohl joined the Police onstage? What song would they sing?
