Only 1 Police song to make the billboard top 100?
According to a Trivial Pursuit question I had recently "Every Breath You Take" was the only song to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Doesn't that seem hard to believe?
Strange but true. Remember, Synchronicity was released the same year as Thriller. Thriller wiped everyone else out as far as #1's went. They did hit number 1 in the UK charts multiple times, and made it into the Billboard top 10 and top 40 multiple times. On Sep 11, 2008, at 3:29 PM, Ross Viner wrote:

2001: After much heart searching once the news of the terrorist attacks in the USA was received, the band decided to proceed with the concert at Sting's home in Florence. Despite several major changes to the set list, Sting performed the most emotional concert of his career in front of an intimate audience of 250 fans and friends. The results are later heard on the 'All This Time' album. I have watched the DVD tonight and i was wondering if someone from this list was there. I remember that i met Lydia, Gio, Sean and Rüdiger, and many more, but i simply forgot the names + faces. Has someone taken fotographs back then ? Peace Simon
On this day, September 11...I remember that night so well, and every now and then I tell about it to friends; I didn't take pictures, nor recorded anything. I remember Sting played Message In A Bottle at the very end of the show, that was not included in the dvd. One of the weirdest day of my life, probably THE weirdest. Giovanni, I remember you were the one who told all of us about the events of that morning when we all waiting for the bus. The mood changed drastically and what should have been a great day for us turned out to be a nightmare. You're right when you say it was a weird day - I was in Sting's house, yet I didn't want to be there. I wanted to be back home in New York with my family and friends and know that they were ok. During the entire show I kept thinking "End the show so that I can go back to the hotel and hopefully call home." I haven't watched the DVD since I first got it... ________________________________ From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Giovanni Pollastri Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 7:49 PM To: Simon Castellan; Police list Subject: Re: [Police] On this day, September 11... Guess you are not the only one Fred, I have not watched the DVD once I passed it on to a good friend. I was just going through my first few days in Greece with lots of difficulties, and when it hit the news, I stopped working for the rest of the day, (trying to) call(ing) friends who I knew worked in the WTC towers, some who I never saw alive again in fact after that dreadful day. Though I knew about the concert at Sting's house that day, I was half a world away in Portland, Oregon. I had got to the architectural office I was working at early that day to complete some stuff for a deadline. It was just me, a drafter, and one of the principals there at 6am. Shortly after I arrived, the principal that was there came over and told me of the attack. As more people filtered into the office we dug out a TV from the back room and had the media coverage going while we tried to complete our work. Shortly after the second tower fell, the lead principal (owner) of the firm arrived and told us to turn off the TV, turn off all radios, stay off the internet, and get back to work. We were too stunned to speak. Needless to say, I left that firm not long after. Mitch

I had a similar experience where I worked at the time. But it gets better: one of my coworker's father works in the Pentagon, I have a uncle that lives in NYC and sometimes works at Columbia U., and because the company I work for is a potential target we had fully armed military helicopters flying over our building. She still was riding us to get back to work, even the woman who couldn't reach her dad and was freaking out. I still work for the company, but transferred to work for another boss as soon as possible after that. She was the exception in that place, rather than the rule. You should forward this note, BACK to the owner. Remind him of his/her (disgusting) behaviour . -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Mitch Darby Sent: September 12, 2008 10:44 AM To: 'Police list' Subject: Re: [Police] On this day, September 11... On this day, September 11...Sure, I was the one who told the bad news, but I couldn't believe it anyway; I haven't watched the tv, I was just listening to the radio and the news that a friend of mine was telling me via phone; remember that when we were talking I received the second phone call when he said also The Pentagon was attacked? Didn't seem like a big joke??? Giovanni ----- Original Message ----- From: Fred Berthelot To: Police list Sent: Friday, September 12, 2008 4:50 PM Subject: Re: [Police] On this day, September 11...
