Hi all, Michelle asked about "The Very Best of Sting and The Police" being advertised. That collection was released in 1997,but earlier this year it was re-released in the UK with a few changes to the track listing."Russians","Roxanne '97"(with Puff Daddy) and another ("Let Your Soul Be You Pilot",I think) have been removed, and "So Lonely","Brand New Day" and "Desert Rose" have been put on in their place. According to Sting's official site, this new version of the collection is only now being released in the USA.The only other difference as far as I can remember is that instead of the original cover photo of Sting looking over the collar of his overcoat,it has the famous black and white "hand-to-head" shot which I think is from the "...Nothing Like The Sun" era. Hello, Police fans and collectors
I have decided to give away two of my Police live records. At the moment I'm not really sure if I should put them up on ebay, so I give you the infos first. I have created a little site where you can watch scans of the covers and download little mp3 clips to check the quality, these are both audience recordings.
the URL is
http://dieknufs.bei.t-online.de/polboots.htm
I have paid around 50 Marks (approx 25 or $25) each on record fairs
I will also have to check the postage costs.
if you are interested email me privately
cheers from Germany Volker

OK, I'll be the one to say it... Stewart what the hell are you doing? Enough with the charity work. Bring on the Copeland/Vinx/Clarke project. (Is that defunct now?)

I cant imagine what Stew must sound like with the Doors. I mean the Doors drumming is a little on the easy side. Can you hear Stew playing the drums with them like he did with the Police. Another point is that this is not really the Doors. No Jim, No John, they have 2 originals and if one more leaves, they will have to change the name to The Door. There can be no Ramones without Joey and Dee Dee, they can be no Beatles with just Paul and Ringo, and there should never be a Doors without Jim and the horrible drummer. Maybe Stew wants to be a pinch hitter, always coming in to fill a hole then move one.
Maybe Stew can go play with Robert Plane, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones. I guess these old catalog bands don't have enough money coming in so they hire one of the worlds greatest drummers and hire a skunk to sing, and bam, new life.
To wrap this sermon up, I'd like to close with a line from the movie Pet Cemetery, "sometimes, dead is better."

Agreed.
Remember that old MTV interview with The Police right after the first concert on the Sync tour? Where Stewart said "Well I'm looking for a job with Uriah Heap next week" Suddenly that joke ain't so funny anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the Doors one of the very few bands without = a BASS player?!? Maybe that was the attraction for Stewart. ;)

In theory yes, however, the Doors had a bass player play on a number of Door's recordings (for example LA Woman) and they have had one perform with them live for a while now. They had a bassists for the R&R Hall of Fame (with Eddie Vedder on vocals) and for the VH1 show as well.

Tell me something I haven't known since I was 12.....
Sting is #9 (out of 100) on Vh1's new Sexy Rockstars list. Right in front = of Janet Jackson and behind Britney Spears. (I'm sure that merits some = kind of "sandwich" joke, but I'll leave it up to you guys).
He beat out such luminaries as George Michael (#73), Beck (#70) (uh, I = don't get that one!), Billy Idol (#55) Duran Duran (all of them??) (#20), = Bono (#17) (personally higher on the list for me), Jon Bon Jovi (#13) and = Bowie (#12).
He lost to Jim Morrison (#7), Prince (#5), Mick Jagger (#4) and Elvis = (#2).
I knew you couldn't live through the weekend without hearing this = important news. ;)

No, actually Maggie, I couldn't! Thanks!
I'm not getting the Beck thing either. I'd say Sting should have come in second only to Jim Morrison. Where was Michael Hutchence (sp?) from INXS on that list, he had that same Jim Morrison mystique to him.

Hey there,
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone... I just saw a commercial on the E! Channel for Sting, I got all excited thinking there was something new I didn't know about (the book, something, anything)! It was for The Very Best of Sting and the Police. Really bad commercial, they're talking about Brand New Day while showing the Police doing Every Little...
They said this "New" CD has just been compiled. I'm pretty sure this is the same one that I've had for years, but since I haven't unpacked my CDs yet from the move, I can't confirm it. Anyone else see this? It was on during the 2nd showing of Howard Stern.
