I think Sting lost most of his fans
In all my years in this list i have never seen it so dead and quiet. Did Sting reach the end of his career ? I hope not ?! Anyways, i think he will not deceive the next time around ... I have a good feeling. Keep the faith ! Did somebody really expect him to do so during Live8? o_OOOO (It's a smile with the eyes wide opened)! Honesty! I really don't know about loosing or gaining fans as it's too difficult to say. As for me, I'm more and more hanging around in the official message board on sting.com. I take if Sting comes back with a tour in Europe, this list might get a little more lively because for the Broken Music tour, I personally had nothing to say. I mean he was too far from me anyway. I know it's not a very rational way of thinking, more up to emotional level I would say. Just out of curiosity, if you had to name 1 - 3 reasons why aren't you posting anything here lately, what would be your ideas? xx Panda A crazy fan from Latvia ======= I do occasionally lay down on the window sill to pretend being a cigarette stub -----Original Message----- From: C W [mailto:marsbars444@hotmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 20, 2005 5:22 AM To: kinetickid@yahoo.com; police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [Police] I think Sting lost most of his fans he did after not reuniting the Police for live 8

isn't he usually on tour somewhere during the summer months - that could be part of it. also...as for reunion...few here want to see it happen more than me. but with each passing year that goes by, the chances become less and less. think about it. the past few years have seen reunions galore - the sex pistols, the who, gang of four, the pixies. this is a ripe time. who knows how long this "time" will last. the may reunite in 5 years, and no one outside this list will care, most may say "sting used to be in a band?" there is also another aspect of it that i honestly believe plays a role in all this. aside from the beatles, can you think of any 'major' band in the history of rock music that has NOT reunited after it has disbanded???? maybe you could say zeppelin - if you want to discount robert plant and jimmy page recording together without john paul jones, but the list is SMALL. cream just came off that list, and i think that pink floyd will come off that list as well. SOOOOO, given this...i think this plays on sting's mind - that he wants to have one of these "we NEVER reunited" bands... life was easy, when it was boring... rich p.s.: those of you looking for a new disc to buy, get IN YOUR HONOR by the foo fighters. their love of the police is evident in many places on the record. incidentally, last month, stewart took part in some of their scheduled events, incl. playing drums on their cover of "next to you"... --- Kinetic Kid <kinetickid@yahoo.com> wrote:

Rich You said it. You hit it right on the button. Sting is getting BORING!!! His rule of never reuniting is getting as old as him especially after cream reunited and yes foo fighters rule partly because they love stewart foxie <forfoxie@yahoo.com> wrote: isn't he usually on tour somewhere during the summer months - that could be part of it. also...as for reunion...few here want to see it happen more than me. but with each passing year that goes by, the chances become less and less. think about it. the past few years have seen reunions galore - the sex pistols, the who, gang of four, the pixies. this is a ripe time. who knows how long this "time" will last. the may reunite in 5 years, and no one outside this list will care, most may say "sting used to be in a band?" there is also another aspect of it that i honestly believe plays a role in all this. aside from the beatles, can you think of any 'major' band in the history of rock music that has NOT reunited after it has disbanded???? maybe you could say zeppelin - if you want to discount robert plant and jimmy page recording together without john paul jones, but the list is SMALL. cream just came off that list, and i think that pink floyd will come off that list as well. Well, that's mostly where I stand. I used to be a huge fan of Sting, but after Brand New Day I started to waver. Even if some say he sold out, it was cool to see Sting in music videos and commericals. After seeing Sting live, which was much less spectacular than I had hoped (though it *was* the 2nd to last show of the tour, he was tired), I began to rather doubt my being a fan. Sacred Love was the death knell, though. Some of the songs sounded gorgeous... if it weren't for the annoying techno beat behind them. Don't get me wrong,I am a big techno fan... but whoever produced it on this album didn't have a clue how badly they were ruining the music. Anyhow, I'm sure that's been discussed. However.... from what I hear Sting is moving back to a more rock based feel on the Broken Music Tour. I tried to go and see a show when I found out, but it was too late. So, here's to Sting starting to make some decent music again. I'll be a fan, mister Sting, if you will just start making some interesting music that moves me once again. Wow, this is my first post in YEARS. I hope everyone is well :o) Keep the faith, I'm sure our man will pull through. -Dave [Man in a Suitcase] -----Original Message----- From: Kinetic Kid <kinetickid@yahoo.com> To: police@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Tue, 19 Jul 2005 19:05:40 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Police] I think Sting lost most of his fans In all my years in this list i have never seen it so dead and quiet. Hello there, Giovanni here back from Gizmo tour and my own vacation at the Canary Islands. By now just a short note concerning the topic. I do remember very well that the complaining about Sting last few studio recordings are very similar to how fans reacted to The Police third, fourth and fifth studio album; fans of the old guard were complaining for the more commercial side of the songs, many were disappointed, didn't believe in what the band was doing and which direction they would take; I remember many fans were disappointed when they listened to De do do do De da da da, or when Every Little Thing came out, as well as Every Breath You Take. I'm talking about fans that wanted to listent again to Reggatta De Blanc sounds, and saw the commercial sound in Zenyatta, Ghost and Synchronicity as a sell off from the band..... Personally I loved Reggatta sound and I saw in Ghost and Synchronicity a sort of improvement of their sound, but I can really tell many friends of mine were not on the same front.
