lame, so likely no 'new' stuff either.
Stewart has suggested that his "derangements" of Police tracks might appear as bonus tracks on any compilations etc.,but as far as I know there's no official confirmation of whether this will apply to these particular re-releases.

You are incorrect on a few things in regards of SACD. I own and use both DVD-A and SACD and I can tell you right now that SACD is the better of the two formats. The biggest reason why SACD is better is due to the fact that the audio bitrate stream on SACD is higher than the one found on DVD-A plus the fact that SACD is strictly dedicated to audio only. Plus the fact that SACD is capable of allowing both the standard CD plus SACD versions on one disc (the new Rolling Stones remasters for instance are hybrid CD/SACD discs).
In either case eventually there will be players on the market that are capable of playing both formats that can be found at decent prices. The closest thing right now is some $300ish Apex player but anyone with enough brains knows how crappy anything from Apex is.

The SACD re-releases, do you guys think these are the re-releases of which we heard previously?

Hiya,
You are incorrect on a few things in regards of SACD. I own=20 and use both DVD-A and SACD and I can tell you right now that=20 SACD is the better of the two formats.=20
Not exactly sure where I stand to be corrected with regard to SACD. =20 Just to clarify, SACD content will not play on anything that is not SACD compatible, and therefore has the SACD logo on it. Hybrid discs will be compatible with standard CD players, but then, you are not playing the SACD disc - you are playing the standard CD Audio layer, which will offer no benefit over existing CD audio discs.
The biggest reason why=20 SACD is better is due to the fact that the audio bitrate=20 stream on SACD is higher than the one found on DVD-A=20
But SACD also introduces a higher level of noise at higher frequencies. DVD-A is capable of upto 96khz / 24bit 6 channel sound (with lossless compression), or stereo rates of 192khz, with a frequency range of 5-96khz.
SACD is marginally better yes, with a frequency range of 2-100khz (but alleged noise introduction due to the DSD technology at higher frequencies)
DVD-Audios discs usually also provide a Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 mix allowing playback on a conventional DVD Video player - in digital format.
SACD (And DVD-A high resolution) only allow Analogue output, because of copyright paranoia, so at least there is a digital output on the DVD Video portion of the DVD-Audio disc. =20
plus the fact that SACD is strictly dedicated to audio only.=20
But is that 'better' than DVD-Audio? Some, if not all DVD Audio players have an 'Audio Only' mode, which bypasses all video circuitry anyway, but at least you have the option of navigation menus and video content - something that isn't available on SACD... To say that something has 'less features, so it's better' isn't quite accurate.
Plus the=20 fact that SACD is capable of allowing both the standard CD=20 plus SACD versions on one disc (the new Rolling Stones=20 remasters for instance are hybrid CD/SACD discs).
And as I've said, current DVD-A discs also include Dolby Digital / DTS versions allowing playback on DVD Video players - available for as little as =A359 (Around $100) What's the cheapest SACD player again?
I'll agree to disagree.
Best regards,
J.

Hello everybody! Here I am again with news about 'The Police Derangements' I started some weeks ago! I'm a busy donk, but I'm back and want to give you the info I promised! I may put'em all in this e-mail, then read carefully as I won't write again about this stuff....ehehehe! I already told you about 'Reggatta De Blanc' & 'Don't Stand So Close To Me'. The third track is an incredible 'new' version of 'TEA IN THE SAHARA'. Should we say 'new'? No way, if we could hear different words, we would say this is a brand new track, a part from the refrain that's pretty similar, but the resto of the song is absolutely different and .... what a track! I would call it a masterpiece; it starts with the repeated line: 'And it may sound strange...' on a new guitar melody (he did some cut & paiste on some notes, building up a complete new harmony & melody), sort of a reggae-ish mood. The live vocals from Atlanta have been used in this case; drumbeats are form this live as well. Really, this could be another Nr. 1 hit. The sound is great! Let's go on with 'WALKING IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS'. More or less the same as the live version of Atlanta, but.... the vocals are a little mixed up, some lines are repeated, as well as guitar chords and effects. ONE WORLD Live from Atlanta with piano overdubs every now an then....as for the other songs, all the vocals have had the 'cut & paiste' treatment, giving the song a different vocal line; echoes and choirs overdubs are the main differences. DEMOLITION MAN This is another masterpiece! This is a complete new version, with a new bassline composed performed by Stewart; low key notes and synthetised bass! A perfect sound for this song that now has a different harmony. The vocals parts have been treated giving more volume to some of the 'low key' choruses, let me explain better: Sting used to sing five or six vocal lines for every line of the song; Stewart got the lowest keys and put more volume on them, and it sounds a little different now, or in some cases just erased all the higher notes and left the middle one. It's a powerful song, more than the original one; this sounds perfect in 2002! I may consider 'Demolition Man' maybe the best re-work of the Derangements. You can also listen to the original song at the end, where Stewart left the original part. ROXANNE Live jam from Atlanta, from the middle of the song; many overdubs with vocal parts, echoes and 'cut & paiste' trick. Nothing special to tell the truth, but it keeps the spirit and the attitude of the Police live; this may sound good for Police fans that already know how the Police used to play Roxanne live during the 'Synchronicity' tour, but for other listeners it may sound a little boring. Now you know a lot more about the Police Derangements by Stewart Copeland. Stewart & Andy Summers recorded some new guitar and piano riffs on it, in 2002! Please, keep these informations just for you. Ciao ciao Giovanni Ps.: do you wanna read more about Sting new album? Read the following e-mail.
