First -- HUGE thanks go to Tim Enders for giving me the Best Buy code! So, here's my story... At Ticketmaster, I was pressing the refresh button every two seconds from 11:57 onward, and precisely at noon, the "Buy Tickets" link appeared. I pressed the link for New York, August 3rd, requested two tickets, and then it starts with: "Your waiting time is approximately 2 minutes" then, a few seconds later, "Your waiting time is approximately 3 minutes". Uh-oh, I thought. Then, after about a minute, "Your waiting time is approximately 7 minutes". Ugh, I thought. Finally, after about 5 minutes total waiting, the screen changed. "There are no tickets available." NOOOOOOO! Well, I better try again. Same situation... I waited about 3 minutes, and then, "There are no tickets available." Grim determination... I'll try one more time. Waited a few minutes, and then... "There are no tickets available." Sadly, I almost gave up, but then I thought, perhaps there are single tickets left. Sure enough, after 5 minutes of waiting, I was offered a single ticket. Section 2, Row O... :-D I wish the rest of the list good luck in your quest! Rob Bernard -- * * * * * * * * * * Robert N. Well I joined the best buy newsletter to get a code, only to find out you had to be a member BEFORE. So why did they have a big huge advertisement for it on the DAY of the PR, I'll never know. Anyway, anyone have a code they can give me for Vancouver? Ross
It was supposed to be for their loyal customers--not new ones. On Feb 13, 2007, at 11:57 AM, rossv wrote:

Perhaps but certainly misleading. Otherwise why would they have on the homepage a big huge banner stating "POLICE LIVE" on the day of the PR? "Sign up here for your chance to get pre-sales." A gimmick. A misleading one at that. I understand the fan club loyalty-But Best buy? Ross, I was actually thinking about the 'Best Buy Connection' today. That connection must be a Sting connection, because as I recall it, Best Buy played a role in his show at Central Park. Old habits die hard, I guess. And at least for that Central Park show, they gave tickets away for free...apparently they are getting us back! Rich --- rossv <rossv@shaw.ca> wrote:

Ross, Thanks for this. It was my favorite post of the day, and it really helped me to laugh about the whole presale/ticket debacle:) I think that it's frustrating us all because for so long it didn't even seem possible(that they would tour((or speak to one another))), and now we just want the details taken care of without all this red tape. So, thank you for the laugh and the perspective. I'm just really annoyed by the best by thing. I accepted I wasn't entitled to the fan club tickets. But I still don't understand how, by signing up by 8 AM on the 12th, means you're a loyal fan. The truth is, it has nothing to do with loyalty. If it does, can someone explain this to me? That word applies to fan club members. Not best buy newsletter sign ups. I think someone used a poor choice of the word "loyalty" -----Original Message----- From: produceink [mailto:produceink@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 5:28 AM To: rossv; police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] I'm giving away free tickets Ross, Thanks for this. I agree with you--there always seems to be fine print. Not that the RewardZone program seems to have done their loyal customers much good for the tickets anyway. On Feb 13, 2007, at 1:09 PM, rossv wrote:

It's not even fine print. IT was designed to mislead. What possible chance do you have of getting presales, if you are too late to sign up? Explain this to me? On top of that, if you signed up at 7:79 AM that morning, that defines you as a "loyal customer"? Loyalty applies to the Sting fan club members. That makes sense. You've paid dues for a period of time, and they give you a handsome surprise. Fair enough (and I am not a member so I am being reasonable) But there is no rhyme or reason for the Best Buy newsletter claim you can get pre-sales. ~~-----Original Message----- ~~From: Deborah Gee [mailto:debjgee@earthlink.net] ~~Sent: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 11:33 AM ~~To: rossv ~~Cc: police@mailman.xmission.com ~~Subject: Re: [Police] Vancouver bestbuy code? ~~ ~~ ~~I agree with you--there always seems to be fine print. ...Also regarding Best Buy's 'MemberZone'...you had to be a member of the zone by February 1, 2007. If not (if you joined after 2/1/07, like Ross and I did), you are out o' luck when it comes to getting tickets via Best Buy. Okay...the argument must be raised...back when corporations starting sponsoring tours, the idea - or so everyone thought - was that this was a GOOD thing, that the sponsorship would keep ticket prices affordable for EVERYONE. This is affordable? NOT! And who benefits? Those that are in with the sponsor! Also...couldn't we - members of this list, members of sting.com, etc... - been given a heads up about this 2/1/07 cutoff date? This has been in the works "for weeks" now, according to that concert promoter guy who spoke at the press conference/rehearsal yesterday. I see no reason why word could not have been sent out. In one of my e-mails last week, I mentioned that this tour is not "for us"...the true fans of The Police. One can see what I meant when a guy in a Best Buy club - with no feelings about the band or someone who doesn't even know who they are - has preference over anyone here when it comes to getting tickets. Anyway, anyone have a code they can give me for Vancouver? Ross

We're the "long suffering" fans! Whats another year of suffering in comparison to the last 23? Seriously though. There are about 600+ people subscribed to this list. I'd imagine there are a few thousand others on the individual band member websites. It would be nice to see a band really return some respect to their fans rather than trying to take advantage of them. Its not much to ask for a small minority. I'm a little bent about the "4 tickets" for ONE show for the ENTIRE tour deal that I paid $100 for. I had better be able to count nostril hairs from the MSG presale seats tomorrow. I know there are quite a few people on this list who are going to try and see multiple shows. They aren't scalpers. They should be given some preference for their dedication.
I, for one, would rather by ONE ticket to FOUR different shows. I haven't bought 4 tickets in years. I quit buying tickets for friends after one too many complained about the price or backed out at the last minute. Even TWO tickets to TWO shows would be better. And I'm not going to buy 4 and trade 2 or 3 with other people. Buying 4 together will almost guarantee seats in the nosebleeds. I'd like to trade, but who would want to trade my crap seats for their good ones? No one. Sorry. I'd rather try for one decent single and "waste" my other three potential tickets.
