RE: [Police] sucky music

Geez, Louise, he's not Maria Carey (whose albums have gone Diamond--but all sound very similar). That's the sacrafice, please the fans with the same old stuff, just remixed. Gosh, it would be nice if Sting's albums sold that much (for him), but if they all sounded like everyone's favourite Sting solo album, I'd be very disappointed.
I think thats just the problem...Send your Love sounds too much like something that might have been on Brand New Day (I have heard comparisons to Desert Rose). This is not Sting expanding its Sting staying right where he was with the last album. For me, its not that the song is bad; its that it is just the same old stuff that weve heard before. Sting fans are spoiled they expect something new and innovative every time. But, as others have said, Ill save my final judgment when I get my copy of the album. Can everyone *please* get it into their heads that we're listening to the *single* version of the first single off the album? Not even the original version of the track that has been chosen to sell the album, but a modified version? Why on *earth* do you think that this is representative of the album? Why do you think that the edgiest, most experimental track off the album will be released to the masses months before the album comes out? The only thing we know about the next Sting album is that there's a single version of one of the tracks being played on radio. Past first singles have almost uniformly been dissapointing (with the exception of If I Ever Lose My Faith In You), and let's remember that they're sales tools. In any case, I like Send Your Love (it's one of the best Sting remixes I've heard, as well as being damn catchy), *and* I know that even if it's one of the best songs on the album, I'll get tired of it quickly before the album is released, and then once I have the full album I'll skip it or underestimate it because I'm so familiar with it. So: wait until three months after the album is out, then we can decide whether it's good or not. Sam -- Home page: http://www.illuminated.co.uk/
