Denver June 9th Setlist and Copeland encounter
I ran into Stewart Copeland at a brewpub in Denver. Aside from a short discussion about whether his appearance on the "Dream of the Blue Turtles" tour happened at Park City or Red Rocks there was nothing notable about it. I mentioned the list and he didn't seem to know anything about it. The more I talked with him, I felt like the less he wanted to talk to me, so I told him I was looking forward to the show and went and ate lunch. The show was tight. Note that they had a list of banned items at the door, like guns and bottles, and cameras weren't on it. I took a bunch of pictures and a couple of video clips that I'll upload tomorrow. I found that no flash, reduced exposure, and high ISO made better pictures. Here is the setlist: Message in a Bottle Synchronicity 2 Spirits in the Material World Voices / When the World is Running Down Don't Stand So Close to Me Driven to Tears Walking on the Moon Truth Hits Everbody Everything She Does is Magic Wrapped Around Your Finger Beds Too Big Without You De Do Do Do Invisible Sun Walking in Your Footsteps Bonanza / Rawhide !?!? Can't Stand Losing You Roxanne *Encore* King of Pain So Lonely *Encore* Every Breath You Take Next To You
Apparently only THE POLICE is allowed to wear guns at the venues... ;-))) -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces+mauxs=tele2.it@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces+mauxs=tele2.it@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Giovanni Pollastri Sent: lunedì 11 giugno 2007 21.43 To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] Denver June 9th Setlist and Copeland encounter

Ok... ok... I admit it, I'm both happy and a bit jealous of those who have met any of the members of the band. Any suggestions for tracking any of them down before the Chicago show? Just to say hello and thank them for all of their great contributions to music would be a dream come true. And maybe a signature :) David[MiaS] On 6/11/07, Giovanni Pollastri <giovanni.pollastri@libero.it> wrote:

I have met Stewart three times and it was in places where I didn't go looking for him. 1. Backstage at Sting's DotBT tour stop in Park City 2. Outside Radio City Music Hall during the MTV Awards of 1985. 3. At a brewpub last weekend. I can't say anytime that he seemed pleased to be interacting with a fan. Maybe it was just my luck. I've met a lot of other public figures who have run the spectrum from pleasant to a--hole. I'd say Stewart was smack in the middle. I'm not saying that they don't have a right to be annoyed, but I'm just saying hello and not camping on their lawn. Even though I was backstage in #1, I've never met Sting. Andy seems to be even harder for fans to meet.

I'd say it was probably just unfortunate/odd luck. While my own experiences with Stewart are quite limited (but very favorable), I have some friends with better contacts than I who have given me examples of him going way above and beyond the call of duty for being generous with fans with his time. I think a lot of it comes down to where/when/why/how/etc. I mean, I do some work with a reasonably well-known actor and most of the time he's more than happy to talk up fans and pose for pictures, but I've been around him at times where it just was awkward and/or uncomfortable. Hard for even the good guys to be "on" all of the time... sockii
