Fuh-nee! I wouldn't be able to limit myself to one song request. Imagine asking Sting to do Be My Girl, but the Sally speaking part? How about Friends, or Mother? But seriously, if I had the opportunity to request one song from Sting, my personal choice would be African Dream from Stewart's The Rhythmatist. ----Original Message Follows---- From: police-request@mailman.xmission.com Reply-To: police@mailman.xmission.com To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Police Digest, Vol 15, Issue 32 Date: Mon, 31 May 2004 12:32:31 -0600 Message: 10 Date: Mon, 31 May 2004 14:31:52 EDT From: SOMEDUDE20@aol.com Subject: [Police] Live by Request To: tonicarbo@teleline.es, Police@mailman.xmission.com Message-ID: <19f.2543f58d.2decd418@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" It would be cool to have Sting on A&E's "Live By Request," and then call up and request "On Any Other Day" or "A Sermon." Since the show is live and he would be put on the spot; might be good for a laugh. "Murder by Numbers" would be cool as well to hear. If you could command The Stinger to play any one song, what would it be? An Andy song? A Stew song? How about a really cool Sting song that he did with the Police and has not played since. Yes, Hello, Sting, can I please hear "The Other Way of Stopping. The problem with these Live by Request shows is that while the calls appear to be random, they are actually not. Every single band that I have seen appear on these shows "mysteriously" only received requests for the songs that were already being performed on their current tour. Therefore, they only chose to broadcast the calls that request specific songs. Kind of makes sense, I cannot see Sting taking requests for songs that he hasn't played in 20 years, and that his band has never played at all. That would sure make him look like a right old chump on National Television. J
