Here's one more: My grilfriend doesn't believe me when I tell her that The Police were the first -worldwide- supergroup. The Beatles really just ruled the US and Britain. So, I wondered if anyone knew any facts that put the Police up there as one of the most influential bands in history. It's my understanding that The Police were only the 2nd band to sell out Shea Stadium, after The Beatles. Is this true? Thanks! David [Man in a Suitcase]
Regarding Sea Stadium, I believe this to be false. IT was something Andy said on the Craig Ferguson show in a bumbling attempt to cover an earlier comment during the interview. I'm sure plenty of bands have sold out Sea Stadium. The Stones, U2, Genesis, etc. I'm sure there are plenty. -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces+krapola=shaw.ca@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces+krapola=shaw.ca@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of David Sent: Thursday, January 04, 2007 6:22 PM To: Police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Police] Facts About The Police Here's one more: My grilfriend doesn't believe me when I tell her that The Police were the first -worldwide- supergroup. I don't know about that, Dave. The Beatles were big all over. And played shows all over. AS for Shea Stadium gig...the best one in history (The Clash opening for The Who!) is never discussed or mentioned! Rich --- David <dripdry@gmail.com> wrote:

Yeah, I don't understand that--why are the Police the *only* band who played Shea (Andy in particular always uses that phrase in interviews) since the Beatles? Did the Clash/Who show violate some technicality by being a double bill...? --- foxie <forfoxie@yahoo.com> wrote:
