I too was crushed. I couldn't stop crying for quite a while. It flooded back images of John Lennon - I can't really believe that two of the Beatles are now gone. He indeed brought a conciousness to help the underpriveleged. He will never be forgotten. Rob p.s. Does anyone know if Sting was close to George?

I was incredibly saddened to hear that George Harrison had died yesterday. He made a great contribution to the world of pop music both with & after the Beatles.
In particular, if I understand correctly, George was the first major pop star to raise consciousness of a cause with his Concert for Bangladesh. The pop stars of the '80's with Live Aid, etc... were certainly following a trail that he had blazed over a decade before.
Just wanted to express some of my thoughts & feelings about his passing.

I can't say that I've ever heard of their being close. I know Sting is a huge Beatles fan and that he and George shared some interests, I just can't remember them being linked. I did hear Sting's name mentioned on the Today show this morning. They were talking of how Sting was jumping at the chance to do a charity concert in the late 70's due to George's success with the Concert For Bangladesh. Have an awesome day!
