No, it was never on the original album anywhere in the world. "Album" refers to the original vinyl release. It was only available on the cassette and later on the CD. joerg.

Not to repeat the obvious... And I hope I will not bug any of You with this... I first bought the EBYT single Italian version the summer of '83 and Murder by numbers was the B side. I liked the song immediately even if it had that jazzy groove I wasn't used to as a young teenager. Not that I captured the beautiful irony in the lyrics at the time... My knowledge of English was very basic and I didn't have the text of the song. I then bought the album (vinyl version obviously) and the song was not there. I remember vividly buying the cassette tape version a year after at a gas station just because I found it contained the track as the last one on the B side... As a bonus I finally had the lyrics for that song too which was a big surprise! Maybe that day a completist collector was born in me! ;-))) All the CD versions of Synchronicity I subsequently bought (and I bought many) contain this song as the last track. It's interesting to know that the cover of the vinyl release of Synchronicity has been published in different versions all around the world. Some different photos have been chosen and some stripes are golden instead of being blue red and yellow. No vinyl version of the LP contains "Murder by numbers" as far as I know... Sorry for repeating what was already clarified by others but it was just good to remember it and write it down on the list! Yo!
