I read over the weekend that an R&B trio called Blaque is going to sample Wrapped Around Your Finger in one of their upcomming songs >which I think will be called "Bliss."
A friend and I were cooking dinner the other night, and we had the radio tuned to KRCW 88.9 (we're from LA), which is our preferred culinary-time station. They were playing the usual dance-inflected stuff, and a song incorporating "Wrapped Around Your Finger" came on. I actually quite liked it-- in fact, if anyone knows who did this song, let me know. KCRW listeners, let your voice be heard!
The little blurb in the newspaper called it "Sting's Wrapped Around >Your Finger." Excuse me, doesn't anyone (other than us) remember that >the Police were a band??? And a great band, at that!?!
Yeah, nowadays the Police aren't billed as a stand-alone band-- if you look for a greatest hits compilation, you come across "The Very Best of STING and the Police". This is one of my pet peeves-- it's the same with Roxy Music (if I may be forgiven for bringing up this band twice in one day), who are always described as "Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music". It seems sloppy to cram music from two different careers together, even if some people might want "Roxanne" and "Fields of Gold" on the same album (or "Virginia Plain" and "Slave to Love" as the case may be). To be fair, the Police and Sting do have their own separate greatest hits albums. And the abovementioned compilation hasn't fooled some wise Amazon customers, as I see from a quick perusal of that page. Maybe Sting and Bryan should do an album together-- a set of standards, backed by members of their old bands. HA!! jENNIFER "I don't matter, you don't matter Neither does this mindless clatter." -P.T. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
