RE: [Police] Basic vs. Premium membership & Fan club pre-sale tickets
Hello all: I'm normally a lurker here--posting only a few times a year--but I wanted to add my impressions and solicit your thoughts in response. First, I am a premium fan club member, and I find myself regretting the purchase. I'm increasingly convinced that Sting's behavior over the last several years points to one and only one conclusion--and that is that money is clearly the motivating factor in all that he does. I'm shocked at how regularly fans--and I know many of you have been there as long as the 20 years I have--are passed over in favor of the corporate types who have little regard for Sting or his music. I'm also shocked at the depth of the hero worship that happens at the site that seems to not notice or care that they are being treated in such a manner. Ross, I think there were elements of this "who cares?" attitude at work in your story--and I'm sorry that you had such difficulties. To be fair, there are people who are close to Sting who seem to care, but their hard work and consideration seem to be the equivalent of the boy poking his fingers in the dike to hold off the flood. It's an odd time for me, having been a fan since 1982 and having attended over 100 shows in the time since. For some reason, I've lost all of my passion for this music, and I have hardly listened to the disc since I bought it the first day it was available. I'm not sure if I'll attend a show this summer or not, but I at least wanted to let you know that there were others suffering from some of the same issues you are laboring under. I think it has been too much of this hypocrisy--singing/preaching on the values Sting does while simutaneously seeing that they aren't followed in practice--that has worn me out and left me without any great passion during a time I used to look forward to years in advance. I simply wish there were some sense of balance here, that Sting might continue to enjoy his money while allowing the people who have supported him for so long an opportunity to see him up close or even to meet him. I've been fortunate to meet him several times--and I should add he and those around him were kind and considerate each time--but I realize I'm spoiled. It would be an incredible opportunity for others to have fair access to tickets and passes, and a joy to see it happen. But I'm not holding my breath that it will happen anytime soon. Good luck to you all, and I hope you enjoy the tour. Kind regards. Ted --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Small Business $15K Web Design Giveaway - Enter today
