I have not read that many reviews of the last leg of this journey... after seeing the show last week at the bowl, I actually understand why. A couple people asked me re: it, but all-in-all, not that much interest. To be honest with myself, perhaps I should have not seen the boys just one more time... Two things that I allow to bother me: one, the scruffy unkempt beard of Sting's. Sweetie, as much as I secretly fantasize about you, it's Never with a beard on! It adds a good ten years. The other downer: the start of the show was no Bob Marley, no grand entrance, just the boys doing a rather mellow version of BOTN with the bass master playing the guitar as he was sitting on a stool. Golden lights, b/w video images. Can I say it? DARE I say it? BOR-ING!!! (plus, I'm thinking not their fault (the venue may not have allowed for it), the light show was greatly reduced to about 25% of what we saw last year.) Here's the catch: my friends, who were seeing the show for the first time (as I gathered most of the folks around me were) thought it was Great! [sigh] They sounded good, that's not it, but if I had to rate their energy on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the start of last year in Vancouver BC or in Vegas or the Honda Center, I'd put it at a 6.5-ish. That was their energy. an okay-ish rating. It seems that our boys are through, done, finito. You know how it is, you're almost at the end of a very long project and all you can do is count the days until it ends. Until the end, that is. Then the energy goes back up because there Is light at the end of the tunnel!! So all you with tix to their last show(s), I'm guessing you will see a very, very good show. But for now, biding time seems to be the order of the day. Good stuff: they still sound incredible, and I LOVE the big-ass HD screen in the back... I was 1/2 way up in the Hollywood Bowl, but that's still a sizable distance, and that monitor looked the same as my hi-def in my living room, five feet away. Amazing. Any one know which technology that screen is using? Plasma? LCD? the tiny little mirrors??... lol... Also, I will say that overall my experience at the bowl was good. I wore my "dress rehersal" t-shirt as it was EXACTLY one year ago... May 27th 2007 to May 27th 2008. If nothing else, eight concerts in one year for the Police was a dream I never thought would happen, I never ever thought possible in this lifetime. hmmmmmm.... maybe I will get married again, who knows! God Save the Police, SoCalJen
