Thanks for your replies on this. I encourage you to check out Red Hot Chili Peppers: Live in Hyde Park (2004 CD). They have evolved into a very important rock band since there days of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and this CD features their latest work and showcases John's abilities. Agreed, Summers background is far more diverse. I would compare John's melody writing to that of Sting's (when he was with the Police), only in the sense of creating uniquely styled hit songs. The artists that work with John are in awe and say he is in another league. Anyways, thanks for the discussion and I hope one day the Police can re-unite.
