Hi -- delurking for a moment to say that I enjoyed my one tour date that I was able to attend (Hershey PA) -- Yes, Annie was amazing, but the best thing about the show was that the limitations of live stage appearance made it impossible for Sting's songs to be as overproduced as they are on the CD's. Why is no one talking about that? It has been my biggest disappointment with Sting's music. I can't think of a single song on the last album that WOULDN'T have been better with less production! Comparing Sting and Annie is meaningless unless you compare the production values -- after all, we know they both have amazing voices/talent; we, the consumers, only get to see the package they present to us for our consumption, and it's all in the packaging! Stepping down carefully from the soapbox, Holly
Please correct me when I am wrong. Your saying that because of the stage limitations, the songs sound better then the album, right? So even with this, "less wrapping" the concerts are getting bad reviews. Makes me think there might be something wrong with the quality of the product. A good product is a good product even if the wrapping might be bad. One other question, to all of you. Isn't there something we can do to get the message to Sting how we think about his performances. I'm thingking about soeone in a "Meet and, not greet but... Tell him what's on my mind" Quickly jumping off, before causing a riot.! C-ya!
