I totally agree that a sad artist makes a better CD. Sting's Soul Cages, for example, pulls at your emotions from all angles. It is my personal favorite. His concerts during the Soul Cages tour are some of his finest works. Another artist who made great CDs while 'down' was Phil Collins. His first two solo CDs produced great songs such as "I Missed Again", "In the Air Tonight", and my personal favorite "I Don't Care Anymore". A sad Phil Collins kicks ass and sells out concert; a happy Phil Collins produces CDs for Disney soundtracks and wallows in obscurity. It's easy to see that Sting is at a very happy point in his life. (By the way, happy birthday you old fart) I've yet to pick up the new CD (will have to wait til the weekend), but after listening to the free previews (thanks to StingUs for the link) it sounds like a CD that will grow on me in time (like every CD that Sting has produced). My .02 worth (that's .035 canadian). Don in Sunny Florida _________________________________________________________________ Help protect your PC. right on, don - i am in full agreement on both sting and phil. FACE VALUE is a TRE-MENDOUS album, as is HELLO, I MUST BE GOING. as for sting, for me, he will never top THE SOUL CAGES as a solo artist. and mentioning it here just inspired me to listen to "when the angels fall" when i get back home... rich --- Don Morris <donmorris0826@hotmail.com> wrote:
